Program Description:

The Dental Assisting Diploma program at KDM Dental College is a CDAC Accredited Program.

  • Accelerated 28 week program;
  • Classroom hours are 8:00am - 3:30pm Tuesday - Thursday during weeks 1 - 12;
  • Clinic hours are 8:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Thursday; 8:00am - 2:30pm Friday during weeks 13 - 21;
  • Patient clinic hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday, approximately during weeks 22 - 24;
  • Tutorial/Re-evaluation times are 2:30pm - 3:30pm Tuesday - Thursday;
  • 150 unpaid practicum hours to be completed during weeks 25 - 28 of the program - exact hours to be discussed with your practicum office.

Admission Requirements:

  • A Canadian grade 12 high school diploma, or equivalent, with grade 12 English and Science with 60% or better;
  • Apply for Mature Student status:
    • 18 years of age or older prior to the date of registration; and
    • complete an Admission test, achieving a score of 75% or better (by appointment only - call 1-800-463-9201 x. 225); and
    • produce a high school transcript indicating a minimum Grade 10 level.

  • Tuition including supplies: $18,113.00 CAD
  • Books: $620.00 CAD
  • Total fees: $18,733.00 CAD

National Board Exam:

  • Students are eligible to apply for the NDAEB theoretical examination upon completion of the Dental Assisting program.

Licensure Requirements:

Upon successful completion of the Dental Assisting program, the National Dental Assisting Board Theoretical Examination, and registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants, the student will have the necessary licensure to secure a position in a dental facility as a Registered Dental Assistant in the Province of Alberta.
All applicants registering with the CADA will be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector check in addition to completing an application form and submitting the registration fee.
